What is ITP?

ITP is a twelve-month intensive training program focusing on technical, business application, workplace, and career enhancement skills. The curriculum provides opportunities to learn programming languages, operating systems, business application development, and networking technologies. Emphasis is placed on the business applications of client/server technologies. Graduates will also possess critical workplace skills. Being self-directed, a competent self-marketer, understanding how to network, and possessing effective presentation, writing, and interviewing skills, are all key requirements for today's work environment. Instructional methodology integrates discovery - learning techniques, real life simulations, and hands-on applications. Students will apply their acquired knowledge and skills to industry-based cases, simulations and projects.

The program creates a unique, stimulating learning environment in which students can safely master current workplace training requirements, resulting in a smooth transition from education to employment.

ITP graduates will possess the multi-faceted skills and knowledge needed to address the current issues and challenges facing the IT industry. They will have the latest IT-related business aptitudes required by employers, and have the ability to continue to learn and be productive on a sustained basis. Information technology careers for ITP graduates may include team leader, project manager, application developer, business systems analyst, consultant, network administrator, web page designer and IT instructor.

Terms one, two, and four are spent in classroom and lab activities. The third term is a co-op work term which provides students with an opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge they have learned to an actual business situation.

MILLENNIUM CORPORATION

The Learning Environment

One of the most beneficial, exciting and challenging aspects of the ITP program is the learning environment that participants are immersed within. Participants enter the ITP simulated world as employees of Millennium Corporation. Millennium Corporation is a simulated training and consulting company which leverages technological innovation and intellectual capital to produce results for real world client problems, issues and opportunities.

Millennium Corporation is a learning organization. Participants attend specific classes to learn technological and general business applications which they then apply to ongoing project and client issues. Employees of Millennium Corporation fill the positions of President, Vice presidents, General Managers, and divisional team members. Each person and team will have ongoing assignments that involve real client engagements, ongoing projects, and educational testing. Three of the four quarters of Millennium Corporation have specific assignments for the divisional teams to accomplish. The third quarter provides a work placement for all participants.

On a weekly basis participants will have approximately 30 hours of class time and another 20 to 30 hours of Millennium Corporation administrative and project work. One day per week in class time will be used to review the internal individual and systemic challenges of running Millennium Corporation. Students will have first hand experience of leveraging their learning within a business environment that contains management issues, reporting procedures, roles and responsibilities, policies and procedures, cross divisional interaction, and team and hierarchical structures.

Participants should expect this to be an exceptionally challenging and very rich learning environment that combines real world applications of leading edge technological and business management principles.
