Special
Equipment
Booking/Borrowing Equipment
The
College lends students equipment that they can use for their course
work. This includes cameras, lighting stands, boom boxes, overhead projectors,
and video equipment. All equipment loans are free of charge. The College
also loans iBook laptop computers for use with the wireless Internet
in the Library (the iBook computers cannot leave the Library premises)
and allows students to book time in the video editing and television
studios.
Where
to Borrow What
All audio-visual equipment including cameras and lighting stands are
distributed through the Library at the front counter. iBook computers
are also borrowed from this counter. Booking of television studio and
film/video editing time is done through EMC (Educational Media Centre)
on the second floor of the E block. Studio time should be reserved a
minimum of five days in advance.
Equipment
Pick-Up And Return
The user is responsible for equipment pick-up and return. Please return
the equipment as quickly as possible so others may use it.
What about weekends?
Although EMC and Library are not open on Saturday or Sunday, equipment
(except for the iBook computers) can be borrowed on a Friday for weekend
use.
Training
Both the Library and EMC staffs are happy to train individuals and groups
in equipment use. Please let them know in advance if you require training.
Security
Be sure to keep the equipment's security in mind. Do not leave it unattended
in classrooms or hallways or, as in the case of the iBook computers,
in the Library. Students are liable for any lost or stolen equipment.
A lost or stolen equipment report will be filled with the campus director,
campus security, the office of the dean, and the police and will include
the name of the user.
How
do I project my PowerPoint presentation?
The Library has several data projection LCD panels. Faculty may sign
out these devices on your behalf for on-campus use only. You are responsible
for a laptop or computer to attach to the device; be sure to specify
whether you will be hooking up the LCD panel to a PC laptop or Apple
PowerBook to ensure that you are given the correct connector for your
computer. The College also has several multi-media classrooms, some
of which accomodate data projection. Book LCD panels early to avoid
dissapointment.
Equipment Problems
The EMC and Library staffs can correct most equipment problems if they
are informed of them. Please be sure to report any problems you have
with equipment that you have borrowed.
