Champlain St-Lambert has over 900 active periodical titles including magazines, academic journals and newspapers. The PERIODICAL HOLDINGS LIST, kept in blue duo-tang booklets, lists the titles of these along with inclusive dates held, the format ( paper, microfiche, microfilm, CD-ROM or online ), and the location where each can be found. The LIST can be found at the Circulation Counter, at the CD-ROM and Internet workstations and on the index shelves.

PRINTED INDEXES to periodicals are located in the Reference Area near the Circulation Counter. These provide subject access to periodical articles:

• General Science Index
• Canadian Periodical Index
• Humanities Index
• Reader's Guide to Periodical
• Social Science Index
• Essay & General Literature Index (locates articles published in anthologies or collections)
• Book Review Digest (lists location of book reviews in a wide range of magazines and newspapers)

After locating a suitable article in an index, consult the PERIODICAL HOLDINGS LIST to see whether Champlain has the periodical.

Consult the Reference Librarian about locating periodicals Champlain does not have.

CD-ROM indexes provide access to additional periodicals, many of which are fulltext on the CD-ROM.

INTERNET access to periodical databases is provided at the Library internet workstations. Remote access is available to Champlain students only.

• EBSCOhost, an online periodical database currently indexing 900 periodicals, mainly American, with fulltext available online for 500 titles.
• KIOSK: CBCA, an online periodical database indexing Canadian magazines & newspapers with fulltext available online for 150 magazines.

Fulltext articles can be printed in the Library using a Champlain cashcard at $.10/page or sent to an E-mail account directly from the database.
