Student
Activities
A
vital part of the Champlain St-Lambert experience are student activities.
CEGEP isn't just about classrooms, studying, taking exams and researching
in the library. CEGEP is also about making new friends...joining clubs
and participating in club activities...taking chances on new experiences...and
having fun. Student activities are designed to continue the learning
process started in the classroom. These activities provide opportunities
to develop leadership potential, social awareness, and self-discipline.
Students are encouraged to participate in student activities to maintain
a proper balance between academic pursuits and personal development.
At
Champlain St-Lambert, students every year participate in activities
sponsored by student clubs, intercollegiate athletic teams, the Champlain
Student Association (CSA) and the College's administration. These include
concerts throughout the year, multicultural events, carnivals, charity
fundraisers, comedy showcases, movie nights, field trips, "Midnight
Madness" (a sport played in teams until midnight followed by a pizza
party afterwards), live debates, and trips to warmer climates when the
weather gets freezing cold. Student life is an important part of the
Champlain experience -- there is something for just about everyone,
and opportunities abound for students who want to get involved or who
have new ideas to propose.
Greatly
contributing to student activities are two Champlain Student Association
sponsored facilities for students:
1.
"The Comfort Zone", which is a lounge with a satellite dish TV connection
that provides diversion for its visitors.
2.
"The Band Ring", a large activity room that includes pool tables,
video games, table soccer, all of this within a musical ambiance provided
by CHAM Radio (Champlain St-Lambert's student radio group).
