Resource
Centre (Library)
The
Resource Centre offers a growing collection
of over 70,000 books, and other materials appropriate for both course-related
and recreational reading. Books may be borrowed by Champlain St-Lambert
faculty and students for a two-week period upon presentation of a valid
I.D. card. The Resource Centre has a good cross-section of magazines,
newspapers and government publications in paper and electronic formats,
as well as holdings of microfilms, microfiche, videotapes, films, slides,
audiotapes, audio compact discs and CD-ROMs. The pamphlet file contains
clippings and articles, providing up-to-date information on a wide variety
of topics. The reference collection contains encyclopaedias, dictionaries,
statistical works and other sources of information on many subjects,
in printed form and in various electronic formats.
The
online Library Information System (LIS) offers quick easy-to-find information
about the Resource Centre's holdings and their current availability.
CD-ROM and Internet workstations allow access to indexes and full-text
reference sources. Also available for use in the Resource Centre are
iBook laptop computers, which allow wireless access to the Internet
and word-processing programs. Microfilm and microfiche readers, a microfiche
reader-printer, and photocopiers are available for the use of faculty
and students. The Media Services section features carrels with audio
and video equipment, slide projectors and light panels.
In-depth instruction in research skills and library use is offered to
students on a group or individual basis. The Reference Librarian and
other staff members are always ready and willing to give help and guidance
in using the Resource Centre.
