Desktop & Digital Design Specialist
(A.E.C.) LCE.2Z
OBJECTIVE:
This program is designed to train students to design, produce and manage
computer-based communications including printed, multimedia, and Web documents.
More specifically, the program will provide students with technical skills
in the use of computer-based tools and the production and revision of
electronic materials. The program will foster creativity in the students
in order to produce original and attractive documents which respond to
the needs of a given business. Lastly, the program will assist the students
in the development of a strong sense of organization, a highly developed
sense of aesthetics and a close attention to detail.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:
Human Resources Canada conducted a study of various career areas including
a projection of employment opportunities until the year 2004. They indicate
that, "Currently, chances of finding work in this occupation are
rated 'Good' (their highest rating), as employment opportunities are above
average and earnings are at the average level. Over the next five years,
this outlook is not expected to change, as the number of job openings
is expected to be matched by the number of qualified job seekers."
Although graduates of this program can expect to find positions such
as: Web Developer, Digital Image Processor, Documentation Specialist,
Digital Electronic Prepress Technician, Technical Publications Specialist
and Graphics Designer, the more generic title of Administrative Assistant
is used frequently to describe available posts.
