LIS
The Champlain Library Information System (LIS) can be used
at the public access terminals located in the Library.
Remote access is not available.
LIS allows patrons to search for books, periodical titles,
and media formats such as videos, audiocassettes, CDs, slides and educational
kits by: AUTHOR, TITLE, KEYWORD, & SUBJECT.
LIS will indicate whether an item is IN or OUT.
If an item is OUT, you may request a "HOLD" on it at the Circulation Counter
by providing the call number of the item and your student I.D. number.
When the item becomes available, your name will be posted on the Circulation
bulletin board.
Other designations which may appear are:
-
"ON ORDER" meaning that the item has been ordered but
has not been received as yet.
-
"IN PROCESS" meaning that the item has been received
and is being processed. Ask library staff about borrowing an "in process"
item.
-
"RESERVE"
indicates an item which has been placed on reserve for a course.
Reserve items are kept at the Circulation Counter and are available either
as a 2-day loan or for library use only as specified by the teacher.
When using LIS, note that no location is given for most books.
When the location is blank, the item is located in the main stacks on the
3rd floor. An abbreviated location will begiven for items located elsewhere
such as MED for Media Services, and REF for the Reference Stacks on the
main floor, etc.
