The
Educationnal Media Centre
The Educational Media Centre (EMC) is located on the second floor of
the E block. It is managed by Brian Smalridge.
The
goal of the Educational Media Centre is to provide an informative technology
learning environment for the College community and to promote learning
through its services.
The
Centre offers educational media services to the local community. It
is concerned with the acquisition, utilization and evaluation of instructional
resources. Emphasis is placed on the integration of computer and audio-visual
technologies with classroom instructional strategies.
The
Centre provides facilities and equipment for students to use in their
assignments and labs. The facilities include a professional television
studio, video editing suites, audio studios and computer labs. Workshops
and seminars are offered on the use of these resources. It is also possible
to reserve and borrow equipment; however, the College identification
card must be presented before a loan is made.
The
Centre supplies Internet access to the college community by offering
a wide range of Internet resources including: e-mail, newsgroups, the
world wide web and FTP. The centre also conducts Internet workshops
when there is sufficient student demand. Internet stations are available
in the computer labs, in the E.M.C. as well as in the Resource Centre.
The
Centre staffs and maintains a 400-seat auditorium, and an 80 seat amphitheatre,
equipped with a cinema projector as well as theatre lighting and a professional
sound system.
